Christian Books for Everyone
Announcing the Medalists of the 2017 Illumination Book Awards
(Traverse City, MI) – Jenkins Group is proud to announce the winners of the 4th Annual Illumination Book Awards, for books written and published with a Christian worldview. With the motto, “Shining a Light on Exemplary Christian Books,” the Illumination Book Awards are designed to honor the year’s best new titles written and published with a Christian worldview.
In her silver medal-winning Remember Her For This: A Study on the Women in the Gospels, Deborah Kaine Thompson of Mesa, Arizona, writes a Bible study focusing on the women of the Gospels. “There is so much to learn about how Jesus views women from his encounters with them,” Thompson says. “This study is written from a female perspective and reveals the character of God through these Gospel stories.”
According to Thompson, it is clear that Jesus valued women, listened to them, and loved them. “He took every opportunity to free them not only from sin, illness, and death,” Thompson says, “but also from societal oppression and the Law.” Thompson’s book also includes study guide questions and meditations to deepen the reader’s understanding.
This year’s 81 Illumination Award medals went to books from a wide geographic range of 26 U.S. states, two Canadian provinces, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, and to publishers of all sizes, including a number of self-published authors.
Christian publishing is becoming more diverse and inclusive, and this list of medalists has something for everyone, from history, to self-help, to women’s issues and humor.
